Colorado Day 6 - Thursday 8/10
Last day before we drive home. We wanted to take advantage of everything one last time, and enjoy not being on a schedule. We were driving home from Red Rocks, so Mimi and Pa started the cousins off with painting their own bird houses. They loved it!
All Eli wanted to do was play one last family baseball game on the REAL field, running the REAL bases. This kid was in heaven! I love this long distance shot, it even looks like we were playing in heaven. What breathtaking views. I could play baseball like this all day long, and we definitely did.
That little yellow shirt is Eli, look at him run the bases!! He was so fast and funny ... he would kind of slow down when getting to second, but when you yelled at him to go to third he really kicked it gear rounding that base. And then the sprint into home plate... I love him!
Look at the game face. He was pounding his fist in the glove waiting for the batter to hit the ball. This was his first time really field, and he loved it. He did great getting the ball and throwing it to the cut off man to tag an out. He kept hitting his glove, glaring at the batter, and saying he was Benny the Jet from Sandlot.
We met another family that lived in Austin. They are the founders of "Birds Barbershop", a local barbershop all throughout Austin. This is where Eli and Derek go to get their haircut. We didn't realize that we were neighbors until about 30 minutes into the game. Small world!
Rounding second and heading to third ... this is when it would kick it into gear with a full on sprint. Clearly, Derek couldn't even get to him and tag him out :)
After our 2 hour Family baseball game, the kids went down for naps and Ali and I went with mom and Charles for one last visit to Glen Haven. Of course, we had to try the Cinnamon roll for the day.Trying to maintain balance on not so stable rocks ... TaaDAA!!
Goodbye Colorado. Thank you for another memory filled vacation. The adventures, the love my children have for this state, and beautiful mountain scenery will be missed greatly. Until next year!
The road trip back was pretty weary and long. It took us about 2 hours longer, because Everley literally pooped every 2 hours. Then about 4 hours left, we stopped at Dairy Queen, because Eli wanted ice cream for his good boy treat. I was to exhausted to fight it, so here we go. It was a nice break for everybody to just get out of the car. However, 1 hour later, My entire family at the same time, had to poop!! UGH!! I just wanted to get home!!! The ice cream just didnt sit well for any of them. Lesson learned. .. #momfail #justkeepgoing
But I mean, that face is pretty cute and happy ;)
We stayed the weekend at my folks house and stopped by my brother's new house with Pallyn. The upstairs is Kyle's "Bachelor" pad. I kind of like the 2 precious kids playing hide and seek in the bar changing all of the lights. They had a blast!
And of course, no trip would be complete without Aunt Ali giving us bags and bags of hand me downs. Thanks Aunt Ali!!
