ISR

I cannot express enough how much we love ISR.  ISR stands for Infant Swim Resource.  The whole point of this is to make sure your children know what to do if they ever accidentally fell into a body a water to prevent any drowning accidents.  It is not only swimming it is first of all teaching them to float in order to survive and/or catch their breath.  Once the sequence is mastered, your child swims, turns and float when they get tired or need to breath, and turn back over to swim again ... repeat as necessary until you get to a place of safety.  You can start them as young as 6 months, and the videos are amazing.  Everley was only 5 months when the lessons were available, so she was just a proud onlooker.
I am VERY proud of my E-man.  This was every morning at 7am for 5 weeks, 10 minutes per lesson.  They do not exceed 10 minutes, because this relates to a one hour hard work out for us.  Eli was working hard, and was exhausted.  I am pretty proud of the family also for making this a priority and getting everybody to the lessons and then head off to school/work.

Miss Lisa was out teacher this year.  The first 2 weeks, Eli screamed the entire time.  He was the alarm clock for the neighborhood where we had our lessons ... Sorry!  But as the weeks went on, there were good days and challenging days.  Miss Lisa was awesome and Eli loved her.  Always talked about swimming afterwards and was so proud at what he accomplished when he got out of the water.
In the last week, you have to go fully clothed a couple of the days ... shoes, socks, and all.  The end goal is to make it seem as they have fallen into water randomly.  What are they to do?  the clothes and shoes are an adjustment and make it harder for them because of the extra weight.  But they still get it, and Eli did amazing.  Look at that perfect float!!

The parents also get to get in with him on the last week to help practice the sequence with him.

We love Miss Lisa - thank you!!

My little Fish! Just keep swimming, Just Keep Swimming ...

Having fun on the last day.  Love this underwater picture!
