We had a great summer's last blast with Poppi and Grammi over labor day weekend. We went to the last Round Rock Express Baseball game of the season, and took a trip out to the hill country to enjoy some good 'ole TX flyin topped with good 'ole TX BBQ
Wathcing the Express warm up. There is just something to be said to be first to the ball field. This is of course, Eli's heaven!!
I need this onesie for Everley is every size up to 3T!! Obsessed!!
The best family pictures we could get.
These boys, I swear ... Memorized! And Eli loves learning about the game from Poppi!!
Wade Bown through out the first pitch, and his son sang the "Star Spangled Banner". We just saw him a few weeks ago playing with Randy Rogers and Miranda Lambert in CO.
This picture melts my heart. A little girl and her first love. Believe me, I am slightly jealous!! ;)
So this story is amazing!! We were only sitting about 10 rows up from the dug out. In between innings, Poppi took Eli down to the first row to see the players and ultimately try to catch a ball. Poppi kept telling Eli what to say and how to get the players attention, and he was the perfect student. Eli kept yelling "BALL IN, BALL IN" while waving his glove. The Center fielder saw Eli, hesitated for a split second (because he wasnt as big as the others), and ultimately threw the ball to Poppi to catch!!! We were going wild!!! Eli loves this game ball, and it is so very special to him. Thank you Poppi for making a great memory happen!!
The Catch!
GAME BALL!!! Both Boys are ECSTATIC!!
This girl is hilarious, every time we go to a ball game she has to put her face in Poppi's glove. It's this little game they play, and for some reason she loves it!
7th Inning Stretch : "Take Me Out to the Ballgame ...."
Of course, Eli has to sleep with the Game Ball. The next morning, he climbs into bed with us, gives a stretch and a sigh, and proceeded to say, "Mama this ball is special, I love this game ball." Love this kid, and his innate love for baseball.
The next weekend, we went out to the airport in Llano and had a day in the hill country. Evi and I in front of Dad's new toy, "Chippy"
Exploring the Airplanes.
You all probably know about this airplane, and have seen it before, but this is the original "Gist Family" airplane, and it's been around since I can remember.
Let's go Flyin'!!
Both intrigued, same looks - intense, but fun!
Eli was beside himself, loved speaking into the headset to both Poppi and Mama.
All these hill country and lake views. Gotta love them!
It took a little bit, but half way through flying around, Eli just looked down and took control! Without hesitation he loved flying the plane. Poppi was directing him the whole time to pull up or down, and veering to the left and right for different views. Now, I grew up in these planes, I have no issue with small planes. But when my son was flying (and clearly by the picture, my dad was letting him to the whole thing), this was the first time I got a little nauseous in the air, but Eli was laughing the entire time and loved it. Needless to say, I was happy when we landed ;)
Great job on your first official flying lesson Eli. 1 hour down!
Afterwards, we picked up some good 'ole Coopers BBQ. Just look at this girl tackle her first rib ... Raisin' them right!! "She get it from her mama ... " :)
