Afghanistan Fake Out

Uncle Kyloo accepted another year contract in Afghanistan.  My work was awesome and let me work remote from my mom's house so we could be there for family dinners/happy hours etc.  However, after Kyle packed up and moved back into mom's house (for a day) his security clearance was denied 24 hours before he was leaving.  Ali describes the situation really well on her blog, so really - why re-invent the wheel.  :)

For whatever reason (aka answered prayers), his security clearance is suppose to last 2 years from his last deployment. He has only been back for 6 months, but he found out the day before he was scheduled to leave that his security clearance was DENIED. Which means, he can't deploy until it is reinstated. Kyle said this can be anywhere from 6-8 weeks. Who knows what the future holds. Until then, I will just cherish all the time we have. I did tell Kyle no more long drawn out goodbyes anymore. I am pretty sure he is okay with that - ha! But, I have a feeling we will be having plenty of family time. Kyle is now a stay at home son again. He had to move back in with mom because he broke his lease on his house and had movers put all of his stuff in storage.

Below is a week of Uncle Kyloo pictures that we were expecting to post when he left; however, seems like this turned into more of a celebration post!! (Well at least a few more weeks of celebrating family time :).

Eli got some Granny lovin' too!

Kyle is clearly over some pictures

This was supposed to be our goodbye lunch with Kyle literally minutes after he found out his security clearance was pulled.

Kyle's celebratory ... I mean ... "good luck overseas & Thank you" drink from the bartender.  Guess he can't go back to Mi Dia any time soon. :)

Some great shots for the "Awkward Ali Calendar 2015".  We love it after Alison has a margarita - so funny and relaxed :)
Ali always has food in her teeth.  I have no idea how it gets there ALL THE TIME, but it just does.  Derek promptly responded with the Ace Ventura bit -- so true!

Afterwards, we decided to continue our "business lunch" in historic grapevine at the legendary Willhoute's.  I have never seen this bar during the day -- so colorful -- ha!

 GIBLINGS!
