6 Months

Where has the time gone??  I cannot believe my baby boy is already 6 months old. He has developed so much and is really coming into his personality. I feel like this is the time period where he really starts to learn something new each day.  If you blink, you literally miss it.  Eli always keeps us laughing and smiling, and he is such a cuddle bug.  Here are some of his stats so far.

1) 12.3 lbs/23.25" length - At 5 months he weighed in at 10.14lbs. He gained 1.5 lbs in one month - woohoo!!  The doctor's have been on me about his weight lately and how I am nursing him.  I had to remind him that he was born a month early and still playing a little catch up.  He is up one percentile to "3" instead of 2%.  Hey - we will take anything at this point :)  Needless to say, the doctor was impressed with the weight gain and his little chunky thighs that he is starting to get.  We have another weight check up at 7 months to make sure he is consistent.

2) 44cm Head circumference - It makes me laugh a little that his head is in the 70% (up from 50%) and his body is 3%.  I don't think his head looks that much bigger than his body...

3) Doing a full roll from back to tummy

4) Eating solid foods twice a day. Right now his favorites are egg, sweet potato, and pears.  He will only eat avocado and squash when you mix it with sweet potato or pears.  We are mixing his food with Flax seed oil to get some good fats and bulk up even faster - thanks to Ali once again. :)

5) Still loves bath time.  He has learned to kick and splash in his bath.  His new theme song is "Splish, Splash"

6) Smiles at everybody - literally!

7) Turning pages on his own during story time

8) Singing his vowel sounds

9) He always takes a break during nursing to talk to me.  I love it so much, but I try not to distract him too much.  He will also let you know when he is almost finished when he starts to suck his thumb while he nurses - ha!

10) Loves to use a blanket, scarves, or clothes as his "wooby" when he sucks his thumb

11) Starting to respond to voice and action at the same time when we say his name or show him something

12) Found his feet and started chewing on them

13) Starting to teeth.  The drooling is starting to get out of control.  I need to find that amber necklace!

14) Starting to do a mini-crunch in attempt to sit up on his own... Will this be the next milestone at 7 months?!?!

15) Loves to stand when you help him. When you pick him up, he will plant his feet and look at you and laugh.

His first pair of cowboy boots thanks to Mimi.  Love getting Christmas presents early!!
My boy is smiling 95% of the time, and then there is this ... ha!  Mom clearly pushed it to far with the pictures and he was over it!

School Pictures.

Eli gets so tired after school that he falls asleep in the middle of story time.
Warm and Cozy during the cold front
Not as good as the egg at first.  In fact, he thought i was terrible.
He wiggles all over his bassinet.  I put him down on the opposite side veritcal and he likes to move to the walls.  We might have to move him to his crib soon, but it is so hard for me to get in the mind set to move him to the other room right now.  I will let go one day, but not now :)

Starting to use his bouncer since he can sit up.  However, his legs are still a little short.  That's ok - it gives us room to grow :)

I love this picture progression.  We were getting ready for bedtime when he fell asleep, and then he woke up and saw himself in the camera - such a ham, but such a sweet cuddler!

My love bug!

Davis Thanksgiving

We love that Mom's house in Southlake is the mid-point between Austin and Shreveport.  It is great that we can use this time to see Derek's family as well.  Love getting to hang out with everybody!

Eli meeting Linda - AKA "Honey - for the first time.  Derek's dad name for the grandkids is Cornbread, so we had to think of something that went together, and who doesn't like Honey?!?!  I think it's great!!
 I love this picture!
3 Generations - The boys at the Gas Monkey Grill.  This is one of the only car shows that I will watch with Derek, so it was fun to go to the restaurant together.

Cornbread!!!

Happy Birthday Aunt Leah - welcome to the KS club :)

November

Well, November came and left so quickly.  Here is a run down of everything that happened!

Sweet baby boy!  We went back to the doctor for a 5 month check up just for a weight check.  What should have been 10 minutes turned into 3 hours.  Between 4-5 months, he only gained 1/2 pound so they wanted to check him for a UTI  which can sometimes prevent weight gain in a baby.  We had to wait for Eli to pee in a bag.   He literally had a bag taped to him with his diaper over it - poor boy.  So 1 feeding, 1 nap, several books and made up songs about peeing, he finally peed in the bag. However, turns out he did not have a UTI, so we just started increasing the solids and changing the feeding schedule slightly.

Even though this was a 3 hour set back in my our schedule, I loved cuddling with this sweet little boy.  I think it was God's way of making me just "be" with my son.  It was nice to slow down and just hangout.  That doesn't happen every day, and I do not want to take those moments for granted.

 Waiting ....

Getting ready for Jenni's baby shower.  Derek was out of town, and Ali/Mom/Ryder were in the process of driving down.  So we had to pull out the handy Bjorn.  This was our first time in the Bjorn, and now I'm obsessed!

Love how Eli is trying to be in the party pic!
Aunt Ali and Ryder made it - woohoo!!!
Could this picture be any cuter?
Celebrating Jenni and her baby boy!
Fun time with the hostesses!

I am normally the one taking the pictures, so I love when somebody else sneaks a candid shot in of us - thanks mimi!
Ryder and Eli are still besties.  They are so sweet together.

The farmers market is a Sunday staple for us.  We love our neighborhood, and this is just right around the corner from where we live.  Great food, education, music, glass of wine while walking around ... what more could you want on a perfect Sunday afternoon!
Family photo .... oh but wait .... look at little closer .... CLOSER!
BAM!!! It's not every day that I get these awkward photos, so we have to document all of them :)
Our Missional Community held a Mary Kay/Stella & Dot fundraising event for the Tania and her family (pictured in the middle).  They are missionaries in East Asia, and the proceeds went to benefit them and their expenses.  My community group started sponsoring them on all levels - spirtually, monetarily, emotionally, you name it - we are their go to group for anything.  We are so excited for this opportunity to serve and it was fun to start with this event.  More to come on the Shinns ...
Mom and I at our MK booth at the party.  So fun that she could come to help and give - thanks mom!!
