Eli's First Egg Yolk

I love that my sister has 3 kids and shares her wealth of knowledge through her experiences.  In addition, something is definitely working because I adore watching my nieces and nephew flourish.  They are so healthy and active, and it all started from day 1.

With that being said, I learned from Ali about the egg yolk.  This is a great first food that is iron rich - which is what babies need, and way better than rice cereal.  I have read in several places that rice cereal/grains are very difficult for babies to digest during the first year, and the ingredients are not all that great.  With that being said, we have decided to start with the egg.  Eli devoured every last bit of the egg yolk, and he did great with a spoon. If all goes well, he will have an egg every night.  Thank you Ali for sharing!

It all started with Fran and Gerald from Organicare Farms.  We love their eggs and buy them every Sunday at the farmers market.  Thank you for sharing in Eli's first food!

I couldn't choose just one picture.  I love my little bird - he did so great!

This is the blog that goes in detail about egg yolks. I used to tease Alison about her "virtual BFF", Lindsay Leigh Bentley. However, ever since I had Eli I have followed her even more.  She provides some great incite into healthy living, natural remedies for ailments, and just living 100% pure without poisoning your body from infant to adult. Regardless if you decide to go that route or not, she provides great facts and information so that you can make an informative decision on whatever you are researching.

5 Month Stats and Eli's First Halloween

This has been a fun month.  He keeps us on our toes and is learning something new all of the time.  We have a check up on Friday, so we will keep you posted on his weight.  I think that is the one thing that we are watching very closely.  He was on track at his last appointment, but he had a stomach bug a few weeks ago and has started spitting up a lot.  I think that has affected his weight a little bit, will know more details at the end of the week. Regardless, he is still so sweet and so much fun, and his development is right on track.  We know he will gain weight as needed.

1) My scale says close to 11 lbs.  He was 10.6 at his last appointment
2) Rolling over all the time.  He rolls over as soon as we put him on tummy time, and he has learned how to roll over when we are holding him.
3) Starting to scoot around on his back - looks like a baby crab walk
4) Chewing on everything - toys, blankets, fingers, clothes
5) Sleeps from 6:30-4:30
6) When he sleeps he is sucking one thumb, and has is other arm over his eyes.  This is classic Derek move - so funny!
7) We got rid of all of the pacifiers.  He won't even touch it.  He loves sucking his thumb, and sucks on his collar of his clothes at the same time.  He will even start to suck his thumb when he is nursing when he is tired.
8) Ate his first egg and did great!  We will start doing one egg every night if all goes well.  Hopefully this will help with some weight gain.
9) Talking all the time.  I love his sweet squeals! He is the most talkative in the morning.  I love waking up in the morning to his smiles and conversation.
10) His day care teachers said that he has found his voice ... meaning fake/mad crying until he gets what he wants... oh no :)

Eli's first artwork he made at daycare.  I am now starting a keepsake box for him.  Can't wait for more :)
Eli finally meets Myles!  Some of you might remember the Hurt's - Joel is Derek's knee surgeon, our pre-marital counselors, and now great friends ...  Anyways, Myles is their 4th son, and is a few months older than Eli.  Now they get to play together in the church nursery.  BFF's in the making - So much fun!
 Still loves his walks
2 sweetest faces EVER!

Happy 2 Year Anniversary!

Today is our 2 year anniversary.  We basically celebrated all weekend by just hanging out and taking it easy -- just the way I wanted it.  We woke up Saturday morning feeling a little rough from the Halloween party and went to brunch to help the situation.  Eli was the best!  He probably knew that we were not feeling the best.  He was so chill when we went to brunch and took naps with us -- what a sweet boy!

In addition, we already had a babysitter planned for that night - (who are we - 2 days in a row?!!?)  We originally planned to go to a nice dinner and enjoy a bottle of wine; however, we were both feeling a little rough from the Halloween party the night before.  So instead of being miserable through a fine dining experience, we decided to go get a massage from our trusty "hole in the wall", Beijing Foot Massage, order takeout, and come home hang out on the couch and watch Netflix.  My kind of night!

Happy Anniversary my love! What a wonderful but challenging year this has been for us.  Thank you for being the best husband I could ask for.  You are my rock, my leader, my love, and an amazing father to Eli.  Looking forward to year 3!

Eli's First restaurant experience at the Omelletry.  He was awesome - must have known mom and dad needed some blueberry pancakes.

Our lovely walk to the farmers market - what a perfect day!
Some of my favorite pictures from my favorite day.  Loved going back and looking at all of our pictures.

The Annual Rowe's Halloween Party

This was our first night with a babysitter in Austin.  Derek and I were ready to let loose, and so glad we chose the Rowe's party for our first night out together. Casey & Atticus always know how to throw a great party, and we always have so much fun!!
The Rowe's went as Gilligan's Island - Ginger, Skipper, and Gilligan

Derek is "The Dude" from the Big Lebowski.  I told him you know when we are getting old when you make your White Russians with Almond milk.  No night is fun with an upset tummy - ha!
I recycled one of my traditional costumes as a Rockford Peach ... "Alison's sister" :)
Love Ilyse and Tom! They just had a little boy, Shay, who is 6 weeks old and adorable.  They clearly won best costume of the night.  Shay was the President with his body guards.

What a party set up!!  The Rowe's new yard is amazing!!  Love the firepit, and the also had the portable movie theater set up outside playing the Halloween classics.

Vicki is going to hate me for posting this picture, but I couldn't resist.  We are just having too much fun together!!

Batter up ... Here that call ... the time has come for one and all ... to Plaaaaayyyyyy....Ball!
Derek pestering Vicki ... I think this picture is hilarious
