Eli's Entourage Part II

This past week has been so much fun catching up with friends and family that came to meet Eli.  It is great being able to celebrate Eli with the ones that we love!!
Skylar and April - Missional Community Group
Ingrid and Heidi!!  Ingrid and I became fast and best friends in college.  We met in a political science class and then realized that we were neighbors in our apartment complex.  We were destined to be best friends moving forward.  Her husband Mike is a test pilot for the Navy, and they live in Maryland for right now.  They will be moving back to Washington state in the fall, and potentially Fort Worth in the near furture -- woohoo, we love that idea!!  We can't wait to visit them!!
I just love this picture.  Ingrid and Heidi went exploring in the pasture and all of the animals came to greet them.  It was so much fun hanging out with them!
Lanese!!  Lanese and I have been best friends since sophomores in high school.  I was sooo happy to see her and have her meet Eli.  The trip would not have been complete without her visit!!
Uncle Mark, Aunt Maria, and Cousin Franky! So special that they drove in from Shreveport to meet their nephew.
3 generations of Davis boys! Derek, Eli, Mark, Mike - AKA "Cornbread", and Franky.
We were able to catch a quick dinner with Poppi and Grammi.  They just got off of their month long river trip, so it was nice to see them even if it was just for dinner.
Terri - "Nina", Derek's mom.  Terri and Conrad drove in this week from Baton Rouge.  So glad Eli got to meet his Nina!

A Week at Home

Eli and I are taking full advantage of maternity leave.  Mom came back down to Austin to pick me up and we drove back to Southlake/Colleyville to hang out, and this way I could learn some more baby tricks from Ali and Mom.  Derek met us later in the week, so it was fun to have everybody together.  It felt very weird being there an entire week, typically I am just there for the weekend due to work.  It was nice to actually spend more than 36 hours there.
This also was the "Williams Birthday/Anniversary Week".  We celebrated Alison. Hudson, and Ryder's birthdays.  I am still laughing that Eli was supposed to be born this week as well.  Here is a week of pictures in no particular order :)
 Love Sleeping Selfies!
First time meeting the cousins.  Ryder was so cute - she was amazed that there was somebody smaller than her.  She makes Eli look so tiny in this picture!  I love the picture below with everybody gathered around.  So sweet!

Hudson will call Uncle Kyloo his best friend.  They are inseparable.
Ali is holding a giant zucchini from their garden.  What better use than to make 50 loaves of zucchini bread.
Aunt Alison holding Eli fir the first time.  She taught me about the 5 S's and showed them to me in action.  Supposedly these will calm a baby in a  second ... swaddle, sucking, swinging, shhh'ing, and laying on side/stomach.  Looks like she still has the magic touch,  Eli looks pretty content.
I mean ... is there a Top Gun Reunion in town?!?!?

Father's Day and the World Cup

Derek's first Father's Day happens to be during the World Cup.... All of the stars aligned for his fathers day this year :). I have been searching for a USA soccer onesie for months, and I wasn't about to spend $100 on a legit baby jersey that he will wear once (and good thing I didn't because he is still wearing preemie clothes).  I found this onesie last minute on etsy and it has been his soccer costume for every USA game.
So glad that Eli came early so Derek could enjoy his very first Father's Day!  Happy Father's Day Derek ... it is so much fun watching you with Eli.  We love you!

This is what happens with you go run errands for an hour before the Germany/USA game and the Portugal/Ghana game at the same time..... some quality father/son soccer bonding time.

2 Weeks Old

I cannot believe Eli is already 2 weeks old.  He is still sweet as ever, and is now enjoying the World Cup with his Dad ... well not sure who is enjoying it more, Derek or Eli?  Below are his 2 weeks stats from our pediatrician appointment.  He is still as healthy as can be and we will re-track everything at his one month appt.

1) 5lb 12.5 oz (by now I imagine he is at least back to birth weight - 5lb 14 oz).  He is tracking a weight gain of .5 oz a day which is very normal
2) 19.5" (grew an inch)
3) 35cm head circumference
4) He sucks on his knuckles or middle finger, and I think he is figuring out his thumb
5) Really only cries when he is being changed or during bath time - basically when he is cold and uncomfortable.
6) He gives us his "Popeye" face when feeding ... one eye open just looking around and observing everything with a little wrinkly forehead.
7) Loves to sleep on mom or dads chest if we let him - its so hard not to :)
8) Continuing tummy time on chest and couch.  He is so strong!!  He is turning his head all the time and will follow our voices.  He will also push his legs off our hands to scoot forward.  Of course Derek says this is good for soccer and running :)
9) Going through a growth spurt right now (at least I think).  Likes to feed at least every 1-1.5 hours, day and night.  This can get a little exhausting at night, but we are making it.  Hopefully this will only last 1 or 2 more days.
10) Still loves it when you sing to him.  He immediately stops crying - it is so sweet.  Love that he responds so well to music at such a young age.  We will definitely keep this going!
This is one of the iron appliques that I put on his boring long sleeve white onesie.  Yay for the World Cup - this is the best that I can do at the moment until he gains a little more weight. :)
We survived bath time by ourselves!
So content after feeding.  I love his little hands and facial expressions.
Love my boys!  Chilling and watching the world cup

Newborn Photos

Well Katherine O'Brien Photography does it again.  I love all of these photos, she is absolutely amazing.  I think this was the only day that Eli decided that he was not tired.  Oh well, I actually like the photos with his eyes open; however, not your typical newborn shoot.  Below are some of my favorites.  I cannot wait for the prints/book for new decorations in our house.  Love our sweet little family!

Maternity Photos

Well, Eli beat me to the punch.  I haven't even looked at our maternity photos until recently.  I am so glad we did these, because this ended up being my last pregnant photos that I have.  I wish I did one more at 36 weeks ... oh well.  I believe these were taken around the 32/33 week mark - definitely before my birthday.  Anyways, these are some of my favorite. Thanks to Katherine O'Brien Photography for more great memories.  She was our photographer for our wedding.  We are so happy we have a life/family photographer for other memories to come.

Mimi is Back!!!

Well, what can I say ... AGAIN, my mom is AMAZING!! Even though I was in the hospital (again) we didn't let that stop us from having fun.  Derek and I are getting our routine down a little more so there was more time to hang out.  Love you Mom!!

Our first shopping trip with Eli.  Eli's future wife will be so happy that we have taught him about Kendra Scott at such a young age :)
 Tummy time with Mimi!
I love his facial expressions here.  He was working so hard and did a great job with his first legit tummy time!

Eli's Entourage

We have had so much support the past few weeks, and we are so lucky to have such wonderful family and friends.  Everybody has gone above and beyond anything we could ever imagine.Thank you for all of the cards, meals, and gifts.  Eli is one lucky boy!
*Side note - I forgot to get pictures with Liz/Tim Heyl and Kristen/Ryan Floyd from our Missional Community group - You have to come back and visit again!! Also, thank you to Cara/Colton DeLatin for our Central Market groceries/meals.  Colton is Derek's Childhood best friend that lives in Houston.  Eli cannot wait to meet you!!
Aunt Ali and Uncle Eric were already on their way down for a planned trip to Fredericksburg.  Perfect timing!! Love that they were able to hang out when he was born and when we were discharged.  Plus a huge thanks to my sister for being my first lactation nurse - ha! ( I think she found her new calling).
Aunt Ali capturing the going home moments.

Uncle Kyloo was able to come down and introduce TMNT to Eli!  The stuffed "Leonardo"(or whoever orange is) was Eli's Christmas gift from Kyle.  Let's just say Kyle is excited to have another boy in the family :)
My Aunt Melinda and Cousin Julia drove in from Houston for a surprise visit.  I was not expecting this at all - so much fun!
Aunt Leah - Derek's sister - drove in from Dallas.  I think Eli looks pretty content in her arms :)
